MILL HILL Car Trial
23 October, 2008 - 11:33
Once again Chelmsford MC is promoting the Mill Hill Car Trial on November 9th 2008 at Woodham Ferrers.
Tests will again be laid out to accomodate standard production cars, as well as the more specialised vehicles, to give enjoyment for all, minimal risk of harm to your car (unless you really want to damage it!) and challenging day for everyone.
A great opportunity for newcomers to get involved.
Competitors and marshals are requested.
Contact Richard Nel 01245 467715 (eve before 9pm please)

Hi Richard,
I am interested in doing the Mill Hill Car Trial on 9 November along with my brother-in-law. We normally compete in the 12 Car rallies with CMC (completed three so far), but have not done a trial before. I was just wondering whether there will be much wear and tear on my car for this trial, as I am thinking of using my T-reg Fiesta which I normally use for driving to work. I noticed from some of the photos on the website that a lot of the cars are quite old, and wondered whether my car will be suitable. Also, it only has a 1.3 engine. Is it likely to be able to get up the 'hills'? If you could let me know I would be very grateful, as it looks like great fun.
Thanks,
Garth
Garth, I just dropped you an email - come along and enjoy the day
Richard
Competitors and Club Members, I currently have just the one entry so far and with a week to go it's not looking good. Please let me know soonest if / that you plan to enter this event.
Many thanks
Richard
Richard, I'm sure you will get some more entries soon.... unless the financial crisis is now spreading to Car Trials and you can't get a much cheaper form of motorsport than that, don't even use much petrol.
Sorry Richard, was thinking of using the Preston car but I'm on airport standby [makes a change from the normal Sundays in Frankfurt!] so can't make it.
Up to 6 entries now - come on out and have some fun for just a few quid.
I just found out yesterday evening that the MSA have now dropped the requirement for an MOT, so that leaves an opportunity for some to dig something out of their back yard and bring it on a trailer.

Well the trial came and went today without hitch or rain. From the hill you can see for some distance and the rain went either side of us.... Yes it was a tad breezy but everyone was smiling and had a good time. The ground was wet to start with but dried quite quickly in the breeze.
Well done to Richard Nel for putting it all together, the marshals for not getting blown away and for Dave Holmes for 1st O/A is his standard 900cc 40hp Fiat Panda. Remember, it's not what you've got but how you use it..
